“class personified” AG
David Suire’s Laroque is an outstanding St Emilion, which for the time being is still a relative bargain. Not many clarets at just over £20 per bottle can boast scores in the mid-nineties, yet Laroque has achieved this feat in three consecutive vintages. Chapeau Monsieur Suire! We first tasted the 2020 courtesy of a FedExed bottle sent during the spring of 2021. It was clearly a superb wine; dark, brooding, brimming with vim and vigour. Roll on a couple of years and the bottled wine has easily lived up to its potential, as confirmed by Antonio Galloni in his latest report.

“The 2020 Laroque is even better than the en primeur sample. Dark and enveloping, with tons of class, Laroque is a winner. Succulent dark plum, gravel, spice, menthol, licorice and pipe tobacco give the 2020 tons of nuance. Laroque is class personified. Winemaker David Suire is doing important work here. 96/100” - Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com
We liked the 2020 so much, we described it as a “no-brainer-multi-format-purchase”.
For those who missed the boat en primeur, we still have stocks of halves, bottles and magnums.
