The Right Bank has been blessed with a succession of superb vintages recently. As châteaux fine tune their wares in the post-Parker world, we are finding slews of ravishing wines. Producers like Canon La Gaffelière in St-Émilion and Château Rouget in Pomerol have clearly raised their games in 2018 and 2019, creating beautifully focussed wines of purity and finesse. Both capture the power and exuberance of the warm growing seasons, but with better crop management, earlier picking dates and more judicious extractions, they have created lithe, ethereal wines, which express the quality of their terroirs.
