In a remarkably short space of time Chene Bleu has quickly become one of the most highly sought after estates in the Southern Rhone. Situated high up in a UNESCO biosphere reserve, protected in a mountain saddle just outside Gigondas, it is fair to say that this is very interesting terroir. Interesting that is, even before we get to the fact that Chene Bleu boldly withdrew from the AOC system and set about blazing a trail for full artistic freedom - a decision that has lead this estate to become the emblem for the aspiring ‘Super Rhones’. It is clearly paying off, as the team continue to scoop a flurry of awards amidst widespread critical acclaim. Put simply, we cannot get enough of them.
We are thrilled today to be able to offer a parcel of Rosé - their flagship wine - for happy drinking over a balmy summer season. This is the stunning sequel to the world-beating 2013, which was the highest scoring Rosé in a blind tasting competition conducted by critics, merchants and MWs, and included some of the greatest names in the Rosé game, the likes of Ott, Tempier and Miraval, to name a few.
Perfect for parties, picnics and relaxing in the garden, it is produced from a blend of 65% Grenache, 35% Syrah and 5% Cinsault, raised in 75% stainless steel and a combination of new and used French barrels. Visually it is a startling pretty Provencal pink, with sophisticated cool strawberry, white peach and rocky red cherry flavours imbuing an impressively sleek and refined mouthfeel. Couple this with a natural juicy freshness and a bottle, magnum (or jeroboam!), will disappear in what feels like no time at all.
