Grunhaus Riesling Monopol 2016 - Jancis’ Wine of the Week

Grunhaus Riesling Monopol 2016 - Jancis’ Wine of the Week
This week Justerini & Brooks was delighted to be awarded Decanter Magazine’s Specialist Merchant of the year for Germany, so it seems only fitting that we celebrate with a glass of Riesling!

If ever there was a wine that could marry the dancing slate and saline flavours of the Mosel with pure good times fun, this would be it. Today’s offer is for the Grunhaus Riesling Monopol 2016, a new cuvee from Maximin Grunhaus, stalwart of the German fine wine scene. Posited as “a harmoniously dry tasting Riesling with excellent fruit and a focused minerality” by Carl Von Schubert himself, the team at JancisRobinson.com tasted it last week and clearly agree!

In no uncertain terms, Richard Hemming “would defy the most hardened sceptic not to be won over by the purity, fragrance and miraculous balance of this delicious wine.” What’s more, it is only £50 IB per 6 bottles - or £12.60 per bottle on your table - once it hits British shores this autumn. If you’ve not tasted the Grunhaus wines before, the barely off-dry Monopol Riesling 2016 is the perfect introduction to the elegant and refined Rieslings of one of Germany’s most prestigious estates.
