It is our pleasure to offer two fantastic 2019s from the right bank, both with enormous scores from major critics.
Some clients may remember buying old vintages of Bonalgue from our St James’s Street shop for a few Guineas... The wines from this Pomerol estate have come a long way since then. James Suckling is clearly a huge fan of the 2019, finding it reminiscent of the “great vintages of the 1950s”. With 97 points and priced at £250 per dozen, this is a rare bargain from Bordeaux’s most luxuriant appellation.

Château De Pressac is less well-known to us, in fact, we had to look it up on a map! It’s located just below Chateau Valandraud on the limestone Côte of St Emilion. Antonio Galloni is clearly smitten with the 2019 describing it as a "complex, mesmerizing wine ". The normally restrained Mr Galloni has awarded it an impressive 95 points. Full tasting notes can be found below.
“The 2019 de Pressac is just as compelling from bottle as it was from barrel. A complex, mesmerizing wine, de Pressac offers up an exotic mélange of black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice and menthol. All the elements are so well balanced. Espresso, lavender, dried rose petal and cedar linger on the complex, beautifully delineated finish. The 2019 is seriously impressive. It's as simple as that. 95/100” – Antonio Galloni, vinous.com
“Wow. This shows so much intensity, with black-olive, blackberry, meat and earth aromas. It’s full-bodied and very layered with power and generosity, yet it’s not overdone. Harkens back to the great vintages of the 1950s. 90% merlot and 10% cabernet franc. Try after 2027. 97/100” – James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
