Justerini & Brooks House Pomerol

Justerini & Brooks House Pomerol
In a departure from our usual, fact based, informative mailers, today, we are highlighting our most enigmatic wine, the Justerini & Brooks House Pomerol. You’d have thought that we know where our own House Pomerol comes from, and a select few do, but they are sworn custodians, keepers of our most closely guarded recipe…

Each year, our team: Chadwick Delaney, Giles Burke-Gaffney and Tom Jenkins under the strict supervision of our chef, Denis Durantou undertake the task of assembling our House Pomerol. Sometimes it requires a lot of trial and error and considerable head-scratching… Sometimes the stars align and we contemplate delusional notions that we have missed our calling... Our 2014 blending was one such occasion. Every barrel offered something unique: opulence, fragrance, tannins, flesh, acidity, finesse, complexity, mid-palate; and as we blended them, they came together with such harmony, it became clear that the sum was much greater than its parts.

We can’t tell you where the fruit hails from… other than, it comes from Pomerol, and we can’t disclose anything about the wine-making, but what we can tell you is that it tastes fabulous - exactly how we want our House Pomerol to taste every year. It glistens and brims with sweet berry fruit and notes of flowers, the palate is silky and pure, with beautifully textured tannins. We’d love to take all the credit, but this cuvee is the work of mother-nature, terroir and great wine-makers - and maybe just a little bit of blending genius!
