Leroy: two outstanding white Burgundies for drinking now
Apart from being Domaine de la Romanee Conti’s official distributor until 1992, Maison Leroy, founded in 1868, is also famous for having one of the most exciting and vast collections of red and white Burgundy there is. Lalou-Bize Leroy joined the firm in 1955 and became its President-Directeur General in 1971 whereupon she set about curating one of the most comprehensive Burgundy cellars in existence whilst managing the production at Domaine Leroy and her own Domaine d’Auvenay. Still active in the business today, Lalou’s keen palate and vast knowledge of Burgundy’s vineyards and growers has helped forge a formidable reputation for the Maison.

At one of our recent bi-annual tastings of Leroy, we were quietly on the lookout for some drinking white burgundies for this season and over the Christmas period. There were two absolute gems that stood out head and shoulders above the rest.
