New Release: Bollinger La Grande Année 2007
“One of the three best champagnes from this vintage” Richard Juhlin

Having skipped the 2006 vintage, Bollinger’s La Grande Annee is back with a bang in 2007. We’d go so far as to say that this is one of the most immediately enjoyable and classy La Grande Annees we can remember. It is a major step up on the breadth and bulk of 2005. Crammed with crisp red fruit and salt notes, this is an energetic and accessible Bollinger that presents itself in a precise and layered way, with plenty of pinot character and keenly chiselled features. It is so ready to go it will make for excellent drinking as soon as it lands – immediate satisfaction guaranteed.

There has been so much talk of the wonders of 2008 across Champagne, the 2007 vintage is in danger of being forgotten. Releases such as this alongside Clos des Goisses and Diebolt Vallois’ Fleur de Passion are proving that in the right hands it was a season that produced wines of great charm, precision and drinkability.

“It might seem a bit surprising that Bollinger skipped the great vintage of 2006 for the more modest 2007. For me that choice is however quite logical since the Bollinger house style is much better suited to austere vintages than for fruit bombs. Here we have a classic and perfectly balanced Bollinger with deep layers and beautiful crisp apple acidity. Gorgeous balance between the dark and light as a perfect Ying and Yang marriage. Layers of dry cocoa, hazelnut fudge, dried apricots and juicy red apples dominate over a beautiful hint of forest aromas based on sous bois and mushrooms in the background. One of the three best champagnes from this vintage.” 95pts Richard Juhlin

Disgorged in June 2016, the wine will be shipped and ready for delivery in early January.
