New Release: Masseto 2013
26 September 2016

Masseto’s unique terroir and a perfectly balanced growing season have yielded a sensual, vibrant and beautifully-proportioned 2013. It was one of the latest harvests in Masseto’s history and the resulting wine is one of the most elegant and stylish wines they have made. The special grey clay soils that form the core of the Masseto Hill in Tuscany’s Bolgheri are unique in the region. So when all around them were planting Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the Masseto team planted this steep slope with Merlot. Great sun exposure for the leaves and water-retentive soils for the roots, the land was tailor-made for this Bordeaux variety. The project came to fruition in 1986 when the first Masseto wine was produced. The result of deep knowledge of the land, attentive hand-management of the vineyards, an elevation of 120 metres above sea-level and complex clay soils, Masseto is an outstanding and individual expression of Merlot. Cool clay-influenced with a Mediterranean lilt, this is a of wine gravitas, mystery and sensuality.    Read More
