We are delighted today to release the new 2020 Etna Rosso and 2021 Etna Bianco crus from Tenuta delle Terre Nere.
First though, we’d like to take a moment to recognise that the 2022 harvest marked the estate’s 20th vintage in Etna. It is no exaggeration to say that over the past two decades Terre Nere has become something of a pioneer, regularly producing the region's greatest wines. Not content to rest on their achievements, the estate continues to seek out quality Etna vineyards in both new and established areas, with an eye for detail in the cellar that seemingly knows no bounds.

“As you may imagine, this is a landmark I am very proud of. When I started dealing in wine as a teenager and as a jack of all trades, and through a good half of my professional life, the question of ‘How long does it take to build up an estate and to make it work?’ periodically came up. And, almost invariably, the ‘old timers’, the good and/or great vignerons who offered their experience as proof, said 10 years should just about do it. Well, far from me to want to call anyone a liar, but don't believe it one bit! Those must have been the good old days, my friends. Or maybe they didn't consider starting from scratch. Very possibly, also, in Sicily everything has a more leisurely pace. And clearly I must have underestimated and underperformed in many ways. Probably much of the truth lies in all of the above, and more in nooks and crannies which I haven't been able to unearth. Nevertheless, through thick and thin it’s been a jolly good ride.” – Marco de Grazia, Tenuta delle Terre Nere.
