Poggio di Sotto releases its Brunello 2015
18 March 2020

Our firm view is that Poggio di Sotto is up there with the great estates of, not only Tuscany, but the whole of Italy. We love the wines for their combination of heightened floral aromatics, warming balsam-laced red fruit and beguiling Burgundian elegance. These are ethereal, rather than heavyweight Tuscans, that still offer plenty of southern generosity. These aren’t blockbuster, heavily-scored, Montalcinos but they have a soul, refinement and other-worldliness that only the globe’s truly great wines can offer. 2015 is their latest release, which was the product of a warm season mitigated by some summer rains, yielding concentrated and aromatically intense grapes. The harvest was early in order to retain as much freshness in the ripe berries as possible, beginning on the 2nd September and finishing on the 16th .The result is a Brunello of shining expression and classic austerity, with deep and vivid aromas of remarkable freshness, elegance and persistence - a Poggio di Sotto classic.    Read More
