Singleton of Glen Ord 38 Year Old

Imagine tasting something you’d made and thinking, “gosh that’s good…but picture it in 25 years’ time.” Patience is very much a virtue in the Single Malt game, and patience is something Maureen Robinson has in spades. Robinson was one of Scotland’s first female blenders and is now the longest serving – a Master Blender with incredible vision. It was over two decades ago that Robinson identified a small batch of casks of Singleton 12 year old that seemed to possess the potential to become something extraordinary. To unlock the depth of character she envisioned, Maureen and her team decided to add a second maturation, rehousing the whisky in a number of experimental casks of ex-Bourbon, Pedro Ximenez, Oloroso Seasoned and brand new American Oak casks. Just eight casks were left to mature for over a quarter of a century. The longer she left it, the richer and more interesting it became. When it was finally bottled, after 26 years, it was the longest secondary maturation in The Singleton history.    Read More
