Talisker Bodega Series: Where the wild of Skye meets the warmth of Spain

Talisker Bodega Series: Where the wild of Skye meets the warmth of Spain
Located on the wild and rugged western edge of the Isle of Skye, Talisker is arguably the greatest expression of an island whisky. Indeed few distilleries tell the story of their origin better than Talisker. Founded in 1830 by Hugh MacAskill of Eigg who, only five years prior, had bought Talisker House on the north end of the Minginish peninsula, Talisker quickly became known for producing a liquid of delicious contradiction. Intense and powerful notes of smoke and peat are married to softer fruits and cereal aromas that, in the older expressions, are complemented beautifully by rich vanilla notes imbued by the ageing process. Once tried, Talisker is rarely forgotten, and by the late 1800s it had become one of the best-selling malt whiskies in the UK.

Their latest release continues every tradition that made this distillery the icon that it is today, and celebrates an age-old relationship with sherry dating back to the early 1900s when their sacred spirit was finished in Bodegas Delgado Zuleta Amontillado casks. Rooted in craft and excellence, five casks that once held the finest award-winning 40-year-old Amontillado sherry were hand-picked by the Sherry Masters of Delgado Zuleta to be filled with the rare and exquisite 1978 vintage 40-year-old Talisker. These casks that once began the journey of a remarkable 40-year-old sherry would now travel across the sea to finish the journey of a truly exceptional 40-year-old Talisker.

It is our pleasure and privilege to release the Talisker 40-year-old Bodega Series. And what a triumphant Talisker this is. With rich raisin, peaty aromas and a rare, sweet opulence and fruity smokiness, this beguiling 40-year-old has a unique intensity which builds to a trademark Talisker finish. Presented in a bespoke oak case, this is not just one of the oldest Talisker expressions to date but also one of the rarest – with only 2,000 bottles available globally allocations are extremely limited. Secure your piece of Talisker history today by contacting your Account Manager or placing an order online – maximum one bottle per person.
