The Spirit of Speyside

Cragganmore is a beautiful, picture post-card distillery complete with white wash walls and large black and gold entrance gates. This is a highly complex malt with layers of flavour to be explored. Many consider it to be the definitive Speyside Malt. Founded by Big John Smith, who was said to be one of the finest and most experienced distillers of his day; an understandable title when we consider that he was the managing director of Macallan, Glenlivet and Wishaw distilleries. Smith persuaded his landlord, Sir George MacPherson-Grant, to lease him the land to build a new distillery at Ballindalloch beside the Strathspey railway. Cragganmore was the first Speyside distillery built to take advantage of Scotland’s Great Highland Railway line, bringing in raw materials while sending out a delicious unique malt.
