Chateauneuf-du-Pape should rank among France’s greatest wines. There is so much more to this historic and complex region than the big points, oak and extraction prevalent in the wines of the 90s and naughties. It lost its way somewhat and became unfashionable, which does a huge injustice to the burgeoning group of brilliant young artisans making wine there today.
