Tasting Note:

A limited edition, natural cask strength Single Malt from Pittyvaich, a short-lived and closed Speyside distillery rarely seen as a single malt, this bottling has lived longer than the distillery did. Established in 1975 and closed in 1993. From refill American Oak hogsheads and first fill ex-bourbon barrels. Just 5922 individually numbered bottles available world-wide Yellow gold in colour with good beading. On the nose it is firm, honey-sweet with aromas of fermented malt and almond oil. It quickly becomes more complex, with delicate fruity high notes of pineapple, baked green apple and strawberry jam. Medium-bodied, on the palate it is mild, the overall taste sweet and cooling, with light acidity. Developing into warm nuttiness, oily and malty with balancing sharpness: it’s as if treacle toffee were cut by a green apple crispness. The finish is medium and warming, slightly pungent and herbal with a hint of peat; later, drying, with a heather honey aftertaste.
