The Director's Cask #1023

The Director’s Cask is a journey through time that begins with the aromatic impression of richly perfumed polish. This fades into dark fruit notes suggesting prunes, figs, raisins and black cherries, on a base of planed oak. The texture is silky-smooth, while the taste is intensely sweet, then drying and spicy with black pepper, rich hints of Demerara sugar and dark molasses. The finish is long and drying, with oak spiciness and a mouth-cooling aftertaste.

Select Casks of Distinction

Each year, Malt Master Dr. Craig Wilson assesses our single cask stocks that have reached maturity and only the very best, representing the most exceptional and singular expressions of their distilleries character, are selected.

Through repeated tastings, each cask is held to the utmost scrutiny by the master whisky makers in their analysis of the specific nuances and character of each whisky. Requiring more than 4,200 hours, the selection of the annual Cask List calls for approval from each of the master whisky makers on the panel. Only fully mature, exceptional quality casks are considered, most are at least 25-years-old. No cask reaches the list without unanimous agreement by all of the experts.

A Precise Craft

In consultation with Dr. Craig Wilson, the owner of a Single Cask of Distinction can decide to age their whisky for up to five additional years – in the process offering them the opportunity to connect directly with the craft of whisky-making and the liquid, tasting it as it matures until it reaches the peak of its potential. To finish, the entire cask is bottled and labelled at the discretion and personal approval of the individual owner.
