The 2025 Certan de May was picked between September 8 and 18 and matured in 80% new oak. It has a straightforward nose with brambly red berry fruit, a little earthy in style and, as usual, it leaves me wanting more. The palate is framed by light, gritty tannins, dark berry fruit, decent depth but a bit austere on the finish. This Pomerol just never seems to show well at this stage.
Grilled cedar, incense, musk, espresso, cocoa bean, black tea, chamomile, tobacco leaf, intense and knitted down. Harvest September 8 to 18. 80% new oak for ageing.
The 2025 Certan de May has turned out nicely, bursting with expressive aromas of sweet berry fruit, lilac and a deft touch of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with good mid-palate volume, energy and length, this will offer a broad drinking window.
