Château Duhart Milon Rothschild, 4eme Cru Classé, Pauillac, 2025
Duhart Milon is a distinctly gravelly terroir over limestone, situated in one plot to the west of Lafite Rothschild. It's a cool site that always performs well in warmer vintages. The 2025 was harvested between the 4th-22nd of September, and is somewhat understated; full of red fruits and flowers, svelte and pliant with a vanilla and cherry cream core of fruit with touches of nutmeg and spice. This subtle Duhart is supported by well-mannered, filigree tannins. Produced from 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot.
critic reviews
The 2025 Duhart-Milon was picked from September 4 to 22. It has a very delineated and quite mineral-driven bouquet, very focused with beautifully integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with chiselled tannins, layered graphite-infused black fruit and a strict and linear, sapid finish that could only come from Pauillac. Almost a minimalist Duhart-Milon in some ways, but less is more.
Fragrant and floral on the opening, with chalky tannins and a gorgeous lift through the palate, showing crayon, raspberry, cassis and cherry pit. There is a delicacy and finesse evident in this Duhart, very pretty, with a less powerful structure than the 2022 vintage. 3.77ph. 27hl/h yields. Rain in this part of Pauillac saw 80mm over Easter then nothing until 25mm on June 22, and 30mm end of July, so two very important moments to counter the heatwave. Then temperatures cooled until August 11-15 before spikes of real heat, 40+C, until the summer broke at the end of August with 55mm of rain, then another 60mm up until the harvest. Harvest started September 2, same as in 2022.
