Château Potensac, Médoc, 2009
Potensac is one of those well loved British Clarets; it is a solid, well made, good value Claret, which is sensibly priced, and in great vintages such as 2009, this is a wine to fill your boots with. Cool, classic, cool fruit nose with hints of floral, cherry blossom. Searing, bright berry attack, with fresh, pure long dark fruit flavours on the palate. A traditional, chewy Potensac with much more silky tannins than usual. A classy Potensac.
critic reviews
Medium to deep garnet colored, the 2009 Potensac features warm redcurrants, black raspberries, dusty earth and dried Mediterranean herbs scents with a touch of cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied, juicy and plush with nice freshness, it is sitting in a drinking window sweet-spot right now.
The 2009 Potensac has an attractive bouquet with blackberry, melted tar, black tea and graphite scents. Nicely defined it maybe a little conservative given the growing season. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity. Classic in style with fine graphite and cedar notes towards the finish. Enjoy this now and over the next decade. Tasted at BI Wines & Spirits' Ten Year On tasting.
