Gevrey Chambertin, Les Cazetiers, 1er Cru, 2023
As ever one of the more svelte, rounder and nobler Gevreys. There is a classy touch to the tannins, which gently bind the beautifully extended, refined flavours together – floral dark berries, a hint of raspberry and cherry, a touch of cocoa, too. This has great allure and sophistication. A first rate Gevrey Premier Cru vineyard high up on the slope next door to Clos St Jacques. Whilst there is a similar aromatic quality to the wines of its neighbour the taste profile is very different, with suaver, rounder fruit coming from the white clay soils found here in this limestone-influenced parcel in the upper part of the vineyard.

Offering up notes of raspberries, vine smoke and orange zest, the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers is medium to full-bodied, layered and textural, with a lively core of sweet, creamy fruit underpinned by sweet, powdery tannins and lively acids.
The 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru is a worthy follow-up to the 2022. It has a wonderful bouquet with immense purity and charm, quite floral in style and very complex. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, wonderful symmetry and a precise and persistent finish. This is a fantastic Gevrey Premier Cru.
