Bourgogne, Rouge, 2023
An old vine Bourgogne from the Vosne commune. The ’19 offers up attractive blueberry, wild strawberry and cranberry flavours with a touch of toast and vanilla. Impressive concentration for a Bourgogne, the tannins just a little coarse at the moment, but nothing a few months more in barrel won’t round out. Tasty with a crunchy, refreshing acidity on the finish.
critic reviews
The 2023 Bourgogne Rouge, which comes from vines in Vosne-Romanée, has quite a seductive nose with red cherry, raspberry and light cassis scents. It's not complex, but there is a sense of presence. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins and a slightly creamy texture due to the 30% new oak. There's a touch of pepper toward the unassuming but pleasant finish. Enjoy this over three or four years.
