Complex polished and briary, layered red and black fruit, sweet wood spice, great texture and very balanced drive and length. There’s no force here but so much “esprit”, a lifeforce courses through it. So very good.

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Aux Reignots 1er Cru comprises one and a half barrels this year, around 450 bottles. The complex bouquet articulates the propitious nature of this Premier Cru: mineral-rich red berry fruit, Earl Grey and a background flinty scent. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, ripe red fruit tinged with hickory and rosemary. The finish is missing a touch of precision when juxtaposed against the Aux Brûlée, yet it feels long in the mouth. Very fine.
