    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Always entirely destemmed, this has an exuberant, fruit filled nose with touches of cherry and raspberry. There’s genuine depth here, ripe fruits gripped by firmer, richer tannins than elsewhere in the range. Quite a commanding wine in the context of the vintage. Wild hedgerow fruits, a touch of cacao, and a zesty kick of orange on the finish. Powerful, but lively with it. The domaine has one hectare of vines, spread over two lieu-dits in the north-western corner of the vineyard, “Plante l’Abbé” and “Quartier de Marei Haut”, in the sector called “des Papes” – owing to the fact that the produce from this sector was traditionally reserved for the Popes of Avignon.

The 2021 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a lively bouquet with quite expressive red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit laced with graphite and light pain d'épices aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, fresh and quite vibrant, a dash of white pepper with a tensile finish. This is very appealing and should age well in bottle.
