Gevrey Chambertin, Dix Climats, 2019
justerini & brooks tasting note
Lots of substance for a villages with very silky, ripe, smooth fruit. Engaging and glossy damson and wild dark berry flavours with a warming hint of kirsch and a spicy liquorice note. Generous rich and seductive. A Gevrey village blend of 10 different parcels. 30% whole bunch fermentation, ageing in 30% new oak.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin "Dix Climats" is a blend of 10 different terroirs that I will not list here. it has a well-defined bouquet of blackberry, wild strawberry and briary scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, more red than black fruit and touches of desiccated orange peel and a light brush of cocoa from the 40% new oak on the finish. I might have reduced that level in this year.
