Clos de Vougeot, Grand Cru, 2022
Round, deep, ripe and sumptuous, full of bold mouth filling flavours, wild spice, hedgerow, plum skin, and supple tannins. Creamy, spherical, long and engaging, with polished earth notes and a fine spice/hedgerow fruit finish. Shapely. A parcel planted in 1986 that comprises a 150-metre-long row of vines that passes over a range of soil types, more clay in the lower part and rockier limestone in the higher part.
critic reviews
The 2022 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru was the only cuvée still in barrel to improve the tannins. It has a very composed bouquet with cranberry, raspberry and light pressed flower scents, just a faint sous-bois scent in the wings. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiseled tannins. Not a powerful or grippy Grand Cru by any means, but it is surfeit with transparency and Pinoté, lingering long on the aftertaste. Excellent.
