Clos de Vougeot, Grand Cru, 2023
The elegant style of the Génot reds works very well here as notes of Griotte cherry and autumn raspberry meet sweet earth and a rich, broad minerality. A long, palate-staining finish promises much to come. A Clos Vougeot of refined elegance and harnessed power. A parcel planted in 1986 that comprises a 150-metre-long row of vines that passes over a range of soil types, more clay in the lower part and rockier limestone in the higher part.
critic reviews
The 2023 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has a touch of reduction on the nose, but underneath are delectable brambly red fruit, crushed stone and light bergamot scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry, slightly chewy tannins and a tangy finish. It's not quite as elegant as the 2022, though it has respectable length. Fine.
