Pommard, Clos Blanc, 1er Cru, 2019
Amazingly pure, crisp and incisive for a "hot" vintage. This is gripping, but clear and refined. Sunny cherry, loganberry and sweet damson fruit overlay a deep earthiness. A wonderful interplay of tension, vibrancy and generoisty. Such detail and precision yet so alluring and smooth. Noble, sophisticated, fine and mineral Pommard. A class act. Exemplary.
critic reviews
The 2019 Pommard Clos Blanc 1er Cru comes from a 0.3-hectare parcel on limestone soils adjacent to Clos de Citeaux. I found this a little subdued on the nose compared to the Domaine’s other cuvées and not as engaging as expected. The palate is well balanced, soft in texture, and more generous than the aromatics, with a slightly confit finish. A hint of sous-bois lingers on the aftertaste. Fine.
