Nuits-Saint-Georges, Aux Murgers, 1er Cru, 2023
Concentrated and rich, this need a little coaxing but, with some air, waves of wonderful fruit come crashing forth, this may be powerful and multi-layered but it holds its composure and finesse; deep black and red cherry fruit, hints of strawberry, bramble and liqueur. Utterly beguiling. From the oldest vines on Cathiard’s estate, 65 years old, Murgers is a vineyard on the Vosne side of Nuits that produces wines similarly silky and elegant as those of its neighbouring commune.
critic reviews
The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Murgers 1er Cru has a little more precision on the nose than the Aux Thorey, with a touch more mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip and fine, quite saturated tannins. There is decent weight on the finish. This is approachable, but will repay cellaring.
