Tollot Beaut
Beaune, Grèves, 1er Cru, 2019
justerini & brooks tasting note
One of the stars of this cellar. Full but svelte and really well balanced. The palate is smooth and even-keeled, offering a wide spread of velvety flavours: musk, earth, sweet bramble fruit, mulled spices and a touch of fresh raspberry and cherry. An emblematic Tollot Beaut wine, a parcel first bought by Nathalie and Paul Tollot’s great, great grandfather. The current vines were planted in 1968.

The 2019 Beaune Les Grèves 1er Cru has lower alcohol than the Clos du Roi and I find it possesses more "Pinoté" character on the nose, more terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Quite harmonious, leading to a smooth, slightly savory finish. Very fine.
