La Cuvée de Louis, Blanc, Vin de France, 2021

Bastien was pleased to report no problems with frost. The vines for the Cuvee de Louis Blanc are young vine plantings from the very top of the slope – the inclusion of Viognier precludes it from St Joseph appellation status. Incredibly vivid, fresh and linear with all the subtle, lifted floral and herbal notes of a true northern Rhône white. A delicious everyday wine. A blend of two thirds Roussanne and one third Viognier on pure granitic soils. The Viognier was picked early to limit its aromatic influence. The finished wine is all on the light, digest side. Raised in used oak and bottled after six months.
