Maximin Grunhauser Herrenberg Auslese, 2023

The Herrenberg Auslese is a fine achievement in a vintage like 2023, where the warm and wet summer meant that healthy, benevolent botrytis was hard to come by. This Auslese represents the last days of the vintage, in which they searched valiantly for a tiny bit of noble rot. Save for about 10%, this is primarily golden, late harvest fruit, the wine keeping a clear-cut racy feel, holding the sweetness with ease, the flavours centred around small sweet yellow fruits and a shimmering slate undertow.
