    Justerini & Brooks Tasting note

Sweeter and more expressive aromatically, with a good core of redcurrant, strawberry and snappy red plums, laced with a gentle herbal streak. Situated on the opposite hill facing the Lohpfad, directly below the Auf dem Haun, Heerweg is the lower part of the slope, producing a charming, accessible style of Spätburgunder. A west facing site, the wine is fermented with 100% whole clusters and raised for 18 months in 228L used Burgundian barriques.

    Critic Reviews

    92/100
    Stephan Reinhardt,

From the Sonnenhang site and its lower parcels, fermented with 100% whole clusters and aged in pieces for 18 months, the unfiltered 2021 Heerweg Spatburgunder opens with an intense and clear, toasty and floral bouquet of ripe dark cherries and a hint of iodine. Silky, smooth and elegant, this is a full-bodied and intense, very long and finely tannic Pinot with stimulating salinity on the finish. This is a firm but also concentrated and age-worthy Spatburgunder that should be cellared for about a year or at least aerated for some hours. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in November 2023.
