Barolo, UnoPerUno, 2022
What began as a super-Cannubi is now a super-Classico, representing a cross-section of their best sites, all hand-destemmed and co-fermented and aged in barrique, a third new. They do three passes over three weeks so that they achieve an even mix of ripeness levels and then the juice is blended. In 2022, the blend is made up of Cerretta, Arborina and Cannubi with a little bit of Sorrano. Just 800 bottles were produced.
critic reviews
The 2022 Barolo Unoperuno offers up sweet red-toned fruit, sweet spice, mint, blood orange and new leather, showing all the natural richness of the year. Ripeness is pushed forward, and yet all the elements are so well balanced. The blend of vineyard sites works well in tempering some of the more exuberant qualities of 2022. The Unoperuno is the most overtly ripe of the Altare wines. Most of the fruit is from Cannubi, Cerretta and Arborina, with smaller bits from Sorano and Bricco.
