critic reviews
The 1999 Barolo Cannubi wraps around the palate with serious depth. Texturally, the 1999 is impeccable, but at the same time, it is also incredibly powerful and rich to the point of not being particularly expressive to site. Tar, smoke, mocha and black fruit are some of the many notes that flesh out in the glass. The influence of French oak is felt more strongly here than in any other of the 1999s. I imagine the Cannubi will enjoy at least another decade of fine drinking.
The 1999 Barolo Cannubi shows the classic finesse and elegance of the vineyard in its chocolate, caramel, and tar aromas as well as its silky texture. There is also plenty of flesh and length and a forceful finish. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2017. A Marc de Grazia Selection, various American importers, including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel.
