Barolo, Carobric, 2005
A wine of two communes, Carobric is the of a blend of three top Barolo Crus: Cannubi of Barolo, Rocche of Castiglione and Bric dël Fiasc of Castiglione. A full-bodied but not heavy Barolo; in fact, this displays beautifully pure, deft flavours, floral red fruit notes, rich shades of sweet bramble and sloe with underlying rock mineral characteristics providing lift and composure.
critic reviews
A striking wine, the 2005 Barolo Carobric is just beginning to enter an early plateau of maturity where it is likely to remain for many years. Sweet tobacco, dried flowers, cedar and red stone fruits are supported by beams of incisive tannin and lively acidity. The aromatics are especially inviting. A closing burst of energy rounds things out in style. This is an especially Carobric from the Scavino family. The 2005 should drink well for another 10-15 years, perhaps more in a cold cellar.
