Paolo Scavino
Barolo, Rocche dell'Annunziata, Riserva, 2007
justerini & brooks tasting note
Floral mineral-flecked red fruit. Bright and effortless yet so long, intense and precise. Juicy, seamless flavours of red berries, minerals cherry stone and touches of damson liqueur. Bright and gloriously long. Complexity and strength without heaviness. An absolute beauty. The Scavinos have 1.5 hectares in this great Cru, one of the finest vineyards in Barolo. The vines are old, dating back to 1942. This is released as a Riserva and so is aged for one year in barriques and two years in large oak casks, followed by a year in bottle.
