justerini & brooks tasting note

A seamless, open-knit and impeccably made Barolo. Expressive andinstantly attractive, offering juicy red berry fruit flavours with a sweeterhint of plum. A fine seam of tannin threads the fruit together and thereis a fresh sapidity giving the wine some kick. A fine blend of polish andnerve. A Barolo ‘Classico’ that is a blend from seven single crus in theBarolo, Castiglione and Serralunga regions. Aged for one year in largeoak ‘botti’ and one year in barriques with a maximum of 10 percent new wood.

critic reviews

92/100Susan Hulme,The Wine Independent

The 2018 Paolo Scavino Barolo is a blend of grapes from several different vineyards including Castiglione, Serralunga and Barolo. The nose is a little closed at this tasting but shows aromas of spice and berry fruits. It is medium-full bodied with fine tannins and juicy freshness. This is an attractive wine with plenty of spicy, cherry fruit on the finish. Elegant and appealing, it is approachable now. Drink now to 15 years.

93/100Monica Larner,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The Paolo Scavino 2018 Barolo is a pretty wine with sweet primary intensity that appears as tart cherry and dried raspberry. With Enrico Scavino's signature on the front label, this is a classic package with silky tannins and a long, polished mouthfeel. Fruit comes from multiple vineyard sites across the appellation, and an ample 38,000 bottles were made.

89/100Antonio Galloni,Vinous

The 2018 Barolo is a very pretty wine to drink now and over the next handful of years. Sweet dried cherry, cedar, tobacco, cinnamon, orange peel and crushed flowers give this mid-weight, ethereal Barolo lovely aromatic presence to match its light-bodied personality. All the elements are nicely woven together.
