Bella Oaks
Bella Oaks, La Genie, 2021
justerini & brooks tasting note
Produced from the younger vines on the property and named after a Max Ernst sculpture that sits on the property (ergo nothing to do with anything involving brass lamps and three wishes ) this is an excellent first bottling, with great delineation to the fruit, plenty of floral cut and lift as plums and violets, darker fruits and rock salt notes glide across the palate. It’s less intense and deep than the Grand Vin, and will drink on release, but it gives a lovely look at the calibre of this vineyard and winemaking team. A fully co-fermented blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
