Bordeaux 2025: Château Pontet Canet

Alfred Tesseron has once again made the front running with the release of his Pontet Canet 2025. During its heyday from 2005 to 2010, this château was one of the most sought-after wines from Bordeaux. After a period of biodynamic conversion and some unusual wines, we’re pleased to report a return to form. In our opinion, it’s not back to peak-Pontet, but it must rank as one of the finest examples from this property in the last fifteen years. Antonio Galloni goes much further, placing Pontet as the second highest scoring wine in Pauillac (96-98+), only topped by the majestic Lafite. For all that, relative to recent vintages in the market, we feel this price is too ambitious.

"The 2025 Pontet-Canet is a wine of exquisite class. Silky, aromatic and vibrant, the 2025 is all finesse. Crushed red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal and a gentle hint of spice are all wonderfully knit together. Pontet-Canet is one of the more refined, sublimely beautiful wines of the year. This could turn out even better than my note suggests. Tasted two times." 96-98 points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous Drink: 2033 – 2065
