Guidalberto 2024 - A taste of Sassicaia at a fraction of the price

The Guidalberto vines, planted in the early 2000s around the Sassicaia farmhouse and along Bolgheri's picturesque cypress avenue, are now approaching a quarter of a century. These superb Cabernet and Merlot vines are complimented with declassified fruit from Sassicaia to form a true Super-Tuscan very much in the mould of its illustrious sibling. Supremely complex and structed but lively and alluring in youth, 2024 Guidalberto is replete with sour cherry, plum, bergamot and fragrant cranberry. It has a bright and fresh approach with a light floral and rosemary notes and hints of fine gravel, lavender and mediterranean scrub. Powdery and salty tannins meld with a little orange zest adding structure and freshness to the long sapid finish. This cellar-worthy super Tuscan is well capable of vying with the best wines in Bolgheri and offers a taste of Sassicaia at a fraction of the price.
