Lacoste Borie 2017 Grand Puy Lacoste’s sumptuous second wine for just £21.72 per bottle.
Lacoste Borie, Pauillac, 2017 - £21.72 per bottle including taxes
Aged Bordeaux is a perennial source of exceptional vinous value, especially at the moment. Where else can you find elegant, structured and complex wines with around a decade of bottle age, drinking beautifully, for around £20 a bottle on the table?
With back-vintage claret firmly in vogue, we’ve been carefully sourcing parcels which deliver on three key criteria: excellent price, decent bottle age and produced by highly-regarded châteaux. Lacoste Borie 2017, an absolute gem, meets all three with ease.
The second wine of Grand Puy Lacoste, this ready-to-drink Lacoste Borie offers layers of crunchy red fruit, with sapid blackcurrant, cranberries and a little cherry and plum compote. Clove, allspice and Pauillac’s hallmark graphite bring precision to the mid-palate and sing of its Grand Vin stablemate. Earthy notes of cèpes, truffle and sous-bois unfold alongside bramble and cigar box, finishing with a hint of dried leaves.
This sumptuous springtime claret will slip down beautifully alongside herb crusted lamb, a rib of beef or a brined chicken supreme. The only thing you will lament when it’s gone is that you didn’t buy more.
