Acte 7, 2015

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Produced from 61% Merlot and 39% Cabernet Franc, the seventh incarnation of 'G' is as impressive as ever, perhaps more so. The Cabernet Francs are massale selections from Lafleur and the Guinaudeaus are just starting to take Merlot cuttings from their flagship estate too. The limestone gives the fruit a real brightness and high toned mineral quality. There is plenty of cassis, spice and redcurrant on the intense mid palate. The overall sense is that of harmony and perfect tension. The fruit is vital and sensual; there is also an intensely mineral and saline character which complements the lavish fruit, and the tannins are wonderfully sleek yet ever-present.

The 2015 Guinaudeau Acte 7 is a blend of 61% Merlot and 39% Cabernet Franc and has a medium to deep garnet color. It comes bounding out with bold notes of Morello cherries, boysenberries, and Chinese five spice, giving way to suggestions of star anise, lavender, and iron ore. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is soft and refreshing with loads of red and black fruit layers and plush tannins, finishing with a mineral lift.

The 2015 Acte 7 has a perfumed bouquet with pressed iris and violet infusing the black fruit, quite mineral-driven and focused, gaining intensity with aeration whilst retaining wonderful finesse. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannin, well judge acidity, hints of dark chocolate infusing the black fruit laced with truffle and a hint of liquorice. It fans out wonderfully towards the finish that has so much freshness, adorned with a long marine-influenced finish. The Acte 7 could be broached now although I would prefer to leave it another one or two years. Tasted at the Acte vertical in London.
