Sonoma Coast, Chardonnay, 2019
Expressive and intense, gaining in focus and clarity as it sits in the glass with aromas of lemon zest, buttered popcorn, touches of green mango and crushed rocks. On the palate the first thing you note is the mouthfeel; silky and supple, generous fruit with cleansing rock notes below. It's a caressing wine, all calm generosity and cool creamy tactile fruit over subtle freshness. With a fine line in minerals below the fruit, light dry extract and a surprisingly kinetic long finish that is cleansing and controlled; each sip beckons you back for more. Fermented with just 20% new oak, aged for 12 months in barrel and six months in tank.
critic reviews
The 2019 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast has inviting aromas of baked quince, pie crust, roasted almonds, meringue, beeswax and lime peel. Medium-bodied, satiny and concentrated, it offers expansive flavors, seamless yet energetic acidity and a persistent, flavorful finish.
The 2019 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is an absolute delight. Bright, fresh and beautifully lifted, the Sonoma Coast Chardonnay brings together so many of the elements that make the Ferren wines so appealing. Orange confit, spice, white flowers, mint and chamomile are all laced together, framed by bright saline notes that invite a second taste. Terrific.
