Cuvée Anne, Chardonnay, 2021

Available Vintages
justerini & brooks tasting note

Confit lemon, lemongrass and lime zest notes mingle with touches of sesame and smoke in this confident, composed Cuvee Anne – a blend of fruit from the Eola-Amity Hills vineyards of Koosah, Justice, Witness Tree and Sojeau. There’s some real grip and dry extract across the mid palate lending this quite a serious texture, the benefits of the new pre-fermentation crushing regime perhaps, with notes of grapefruit and salt on the finish. Smart stuff.

critic reviews

92/100Eric Guido,Vinous

The 2021 Chardonnay Cuvée Anne opens with an engaging blend of savory lime zests, mint and hints of chamomile complicating green apples. Soft and round, this flows across the palate with a mineral-tinged combination of ripe orchard fruits and liquid stone. Zesty and citrus-tinged, it finishes with a subtle tension while leaving the palate perfectly refreshed. This is a great introduction to the Walter Scott style at a more digestible price point.

95+/100Erin Brooks,Robert Parker Wine Advocate

The 2021 Chardonnay Cuvee Anne is purely scented of quice, beeswax and saline with accents of acacia flowers. The light-bodied palate is electric and flinty, with its deep, youthful fruit uncoiling slowly, and it has a long, shimmery finish. It will take plenty of time in the bottle to unwind.
