The Kracher family, renowned for their dedication, passion, and visionary approach, have risen to the top of the noble sweet wine world. Situated in Seewinkel, where the warm and humid autumn climate consistently fosters the development of Botrytis cinerea, they produce some of the most exceptional sweet wines year after year.
Gerhard Kracher has been at the helm of Weinlaubenhof in Illmitz since 2007, continuing the legacy of his father, Alois "Luis" Kracher, who revolutionized Austrian sweet wine by establishing a distinct style that garnered international acclaim. Alois Kracher was instrumental in making the Kracher name synonymous with world-class dessert wines.
Working with grape varieties such as Welschriesling, Chardonnay, Traminer, Scheurebe, Muskat-Ottonel, and occasionally Zweigelt, the Kracher family produces between 1 to 15 different Trockenbeerenauslese wines annually, crafted in two distinct styles. The “Zwischen den Seen” range, aged in large wooden barrels or stainless steel, reflects the classic regional style, while the “Nouvelle Vague” line, vinified in new barriques, showcases greater depth, spice, and complexity.
