Tasting Note:

Denis Durantou calls 2005 the year of the violets, and certainly this is a character common to many of the wines we tasted; he also supports “honest” tannins, suggesting that to withhold tannic content in a wine for cosmetic reasons of early tasting can limit ageing potential. At least he walks the talk: his Grand Vin is laden with both violets and tannin, and is the better for them. Another big example, the 2005 is rich and ripe, with currants and creamy vanilla on the nose; tannins are massive but rounded, and the finish is deliciously chocolatey and coffee-rich. A fabulous wine.
