Tasting Note:

The family farm vineyard was the second site Kevin Harvey planted, back in 2002. It sits at 400ft altitude, the only vineyard in the Rhys range on alluvial soils with a good clay content. East facing, sheltered from the afternoon sun, the Family Farm Pinot tends to be vinified with 25-35% whole bunches. The 2016 starts out with a lovely combination of luxurious fruit and fine forrest floor notes, tapering off into an earthy, smoky, black tea finish. Supple, yet structured, with plenty of fruit depth and slight floral hints appearing with air. This is drinking well straight out of the gate yet should age gracefully – the cuvee certainly has a track record of mid term longevity.
