For many years, Château Lagrange was perceived as a tired and underperforming Saint-Julien estate, one that struggled to justify its 3ème Cru Classé status. However, in 1983, its fortunes changed when the Japanese Suntory Group took ownership and set about a full-scale renovation of the vineyards and winery.
Lagrange soon rose to prominence as a model estate, and even today, few Bordeaux properties can match its scale and innovation. Its vast barrique cellars and state-of-the-art cuvier, equipped with 56 temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, stand as a testament to its remarkable transformation.
