Château Le Crock

Château Le Crock

Château Le Crock is a distinguished Cru Bourgeois estate in St. Estèphe, owned by the Cuvelier family since 1903. Owned by the St Julien powerhouse Léoville Poyferré, Le Crock is located in St Estèphe near to Cos d’Estournel. The vineyards are close to the Gironde estuary, benefiting from deep gravel beds and sandier clay soils, capable of making sublime wines when the conditions are right.

The estate spans 33 hectares, with vines composed of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. Grapes at Le Crock are harvested by hand and undergo traditional vinification before being aged for 18 months in small oak barrels, one-third of which are new. The wine is bottled without filtration.

Château Le Crock produces classic St. Estèphe wines that are deeply colored, concentrated, and full-bodied. Since 1995, with Michel Rolland as a consultant, the wines have shown improved balance and harmony. They have been gradually phasing in organic farming methods and expect to be fully certified in 2025.
